Dearborn Homecoming 5k and Fun Run

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016

When summer hits in Southeast Michigan, everyone begins to look forward to fireworks, tasty food, great music, and seeing old friends at the Dearborn Homecoming festival.  Now in its 37th year, they are adding a new tradition – the Dearborn Homecoming Festival 5K and one-mile Family Fun Run on Sunday, August 7.  Come out and run or walk on Sunday morning to celebrate Dearborn!

The 5K will leave from the Brady Street entrance at 8 a.m. and loop along the Rouge River Gateway trail near the University of Michigan-Dearborn before returning to the park.  Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers and by gender in 12 age groups.

The one-mile Family Fun Run stays within Ford Field Park and is a chance for runners of all ages and abilities to participate in the event. The Fun Run starts at 7:45 a.m.

Registration for the 5K is $28 through June 30, with the first 50 to register getting a special early bird rate of $22.  Then until  July 31, registration is $32.

Late registration is $35 through race day.  For the Fun Run, registration is $15 until July 31 and then $20 through race day.

See to register and for more details.

Registration includes a custom inaugural Dearborn Homecoming 5K T-shirt (must register by Aug. 1 to be guaranteed a shirt), a custom Dearborn Homecoming bib number, live results, post-race food and drinks, and an inaugural Dearborn Homecoming 5K finishers glass (5K only).

Race proceeds benefit the Dearborn Community Fund, which organizes Homecoming with the City of Dearborn.  Homecoming runs from Aug. 5 to 7 at Ford Field Park on Monroe Street north of Michigan Avenue. Planners hope to make the run a permanent part of Homecoming.

The run is one of several Homecoming events in 2016 to incorporate Healthy Dearborn initiatives. Healthy Dearborn is a broad-based community project to promote wellness, including staying active and having fun. So come out and have a “Healthy Start to a Fun Day”!
